The Oregon Innovation Foundation in Shaping an Inclusive, Sustainable Future
Dear Collaborators, Funders, and Volunteers,
We are excited to introduce you to the Oregon Innovation Foundation (OIF), a dynamic organization dedicated to leveraging innovation, technology, and civic engagement to create a connected, resilient, and inclusive society. Started 20 years ago as the Software Association of Oregon Foundation, our new mission is to prioritize underrepresented and underserved communities while fostering collaboration and opportunity for all.
Our Vision
We envision a thriving environment where diverse peoples and ideas contribute to sustainable development, social impact, and equitable access to resources and opportunities. We believe in the power of innovation to transform our communities and are committed to making a lasting, positive change.
Our Flagship Programs
Our comprehensive plan for civic innovation and technology focuses on two main categories of programs: Global Programs and Scale-up Programs. These programs will be rolled out over the next five years, allowing for careful development and implementation, with built-in periods for reflection and learning.
Global Programs
Our Global Programs form the backbone of our efforts, providing continuous support and resources throughout our entire range of influence. They are designed to build capacities, create and strengthen networks, enhance digital literacy, and ensure that decision-making is based on solid research.
Network & Community Development Program: This foundational program focuses on building, managing, and maintaining valuable relationships that accelerate our work and foster collaboration.
Fiscal Sponsorship Program: We support individuals and groups with innovative ideas for civic innovation, providing the administrative and financial infrastructure they need to bring their ideas to life.
Digital Literacy Program: We aim to improve digital literacy rates in underrepresented and underserved communities, empowering them to participate fully in the digital society.
Innovation Fellowship Program: We recruit talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to work on specific innovation projects that address social, economic, and environmental challenges.
Research, Reporting, and Learning Program: We focus on continuous learning and sharing insights through research, reporting, and evaluation.
Scale-up Programs
Our Scale-up Programs are designed to start within a specific region and gradually expand to cover broader areas. They aim to develop and implement innovative solutions that address social, economic, and environmental challenges in close collaboration with local communities and public sector agencies.
Community-Driven Innovation Program: We engage communities directly in innovation, using their insights and experiences to develop new solutions.
Innovation Challenge Program: We solicit and support innovative ideas from the community that addresses specific challenges, providing funding and support for implementing the best ideas.
Innovation Incubator Program: We provide comprehensive support to early-stage civic innovation projects, helping participants develop their ideas into viable solutions.
Government Technology Program: We work with public sector agencies to develop digital solutions for public services, thereby improving the accessibility and quality of these services.
